Black Tears

Black Tears

on the way

You don’t like cigarettes, but you like cigars

I’m leaving, heading home where you don’t live

Even though I want to run away with you and simply have an art studio, we’d work all day in there together, none the wiser

I have a vision

You created it!

It’s a dream, probably only a dream, and I don’t understand why it’s only a dream

It’s real in my mind

A whole ‘nother life

The one I’d rather live, so I cry

Mascara running down into my coffee

It’s a whole ‘nother life

I’ll go to work Monday

Back into the beige corporate world

The world of heart attacks and suicide

And I’ll thrive because I am their stroke of color even though I wear black most of the time

With tears in my eyes

Black tears

Because inside my mind we are making masterpieces

Year after year

In our honeycomb quadrant of my mind, we’re a masterpiece.
